Nicola Parker, who is more familiar to Seattle Pacific volleyball fans as an opponent, will come over to the Falcons’ side of the court this season, joining the program as an assistant coach. An All-American libero at Western Washington University in 2002 and 2003, Parker not only will be on head coach Chris Johnson’s staff, she also is a math teacher at SPU, a position she took this past spring. Parker played at Western from 2000 to 2003, graduating in 2004. She was a setter who became an o
MLBTR has learned tonight that the Red Sox had a scout in attendance for tonight's Indians-Mariners game. The Indians topped the Ms 9-0 behind a nice performance from Aaron Laffey and four home runs from the offense. The purpose behind Boston's scouting mission is unknown. But the logical connection is Indians catcher Victor Martinez . Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports wrote Thursday that the Red Sox "continue to scout and express interest in Martinez even after acquiring first baseman Adam

A quick assessment indicated that they had died quite recently. The scientists radioed a passing vessel and sent a message to a colleague at a nearby marine-mammal laboratory, who came to the beach to do an examination. They were beaked whales, of which there a

Mrs. Cook’s in Seattle

Mrs. Cook’s is a Seattle gem. Comfortably nestled in the heart of University Village Shopping Center, Mrs. Cook’s has been fueling the inner chefs of Seattleites and visitors since 1976 when Carol Bromel first opened her shop. As someone who loves to cook, just walking in a kitchen store makes my heart race. Filled with beautiful things that inspire my favorite hobby, how could it not be exciting? Mrs. Cook’s has all the elements that make a great kitchen shop with quality lines of pots
SUMmer of Soccer Rolls On

SUMmer of Soccer Continues First let me apologize for the tardiness of this post. I Amtraked across America to visit family, go to a wedding, and I’m going to cram in a trip to Giants’ Stadium for the Gold Cup Final. Can you believe it, no Wi-Fi in any Amtrak station between Arizona and Chicago, nor between Chi-town and New York, so a ‘just the numbers’ abbreviated post before the weekend. My normal ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame’ post may also be a tad late, but we’ll see how things go. Now on
