Microsoft Sues Mobile Ringtone Company for Phishing, Spam

Microsoft has sued a Hong Kong seller of mobile ringtones, saying the company used phishing techniques to flood Microsoft Live Messenger users with spam messages. PC World reports. The lawsuit accuses a company called Funmobile of sending out thousands of spam instant messages over the past four months. The case was filed last month in King County Superior Court in Seattle, but Microsoft did not name the company involved until Thursday. Microsoft is seeking a court injunction to stop t

Behind the Blue Door

Here's a photo of Ute and me in front of her front door in Frankfurt.  She has lived in this apartment for nine years--up five flights of stairs with no elevator. Those stairs, plus the bicycle she rides to work, keep her very fit.  For me, with my shortness of breath, the stairs are a challenge, and I only go up and down once a day.  The whole neighborhood is very charming with buildings that date back more than 100 years. Most have shops and restaurants on the ground floor and apartments

Bastille Cafe & Bar @ Ballard

I am a bit skeptical about trying out a brand new restaurant after a few disastrous experiences. With so many great places in and around Seattle, once we have a bad experience in a restaurant, the chances of us going back there is very slim. And everyone knows that most restaurants won’t have all their [...]

Saltwater sandals

Growing up in Seattle, we spent every summer on the salty, rocky beaches of the Puget Sound… running around in our Saltwater sandals ! SUMMER MEMORIES

The main reason I love summers is because that's when we take our family vacations. Here we are in Seattle a few years ago. Here we are in family art camp at Idyllwild. Here we are in Chicago when the kids were much younger. A nd much younger still were the kids when we headed off to Orlando. And here we are in Washington D.C.   Later this month, we'll be flying out to Boston and then driving into Maine for several days. I'm especially look
