P.O.S.’s Warped Tour dates + more

So yeah, I slept on the Vans Warped Tour . But that’s only because the hip hop offerings are so anemic in comparison to last year . In fact, the only two dudes worth mentioning on the bill are Shad (more on him later) and P.O.S. The latter is having a breakout year thanks to Never Better , which landed in the Billboard top 100 upon its release last February. There’s still about a month and a half left in the tour. After that, he’ll support Bad Brains on a few dates; those have yet t

Cartoon cigarette ads broke agreement

For the second time in two months, a court said Monday that an advertisement RJ Reynolds placed in Rolling Stone magazine broke the tobacco industry’s 1998 settlement with the states by using cartoons, and the company will have to pay damages. The Washington state Court of Appeals overturned a lower court’s finding that content Reynolds produced for the 2007 Rolling Stone advertisement did not include cartoons. Though the photographic images weren’t Disney-style illustrations, the appeals co

Building Trend Has People Thinking Small

There’s a new building trend in Seattle that has would-be residents thinking small: They’re boarding houses, townhouse-style – tiny rooms for rent for those who want big city living without the big-city price. But neighbors say they’re getting more than they bargained for and want the city to step in. KING 5’s Meg Coyle reports. Unfortunately I couldn’t embed the following video, please click on this link King5.com or on the picture below. This is a cool idea that unfortunately has not been

Scene of the (fictional) Crime… Perhaps

So yesterday I did a little location checking and ended up moving an event in the WIP from an anonymous parking lot in Lake City to a much creepier location: the old Seattle Malting and Brewing Company buildings on Airport Way. This site eventually became the original Rainier Brewery before the newer building (which is now the Tully’s roastery) was built a few miles up the road. Does not this seem like a much lonelier place to leave a fictional body….? The old Brewery buildings stand partially d
