I have two events coming up that may be of interest. The Seattle media party this Tuesday could use a volunteer to greet people/hand out name tags at the door in case anyone’s interested (great way for shy people and new writers to meet the writers, editors, and other seasoned media peeps in attendance). If so, leave me a comment or send me an email; thanks! Also note that the rate for the Creative Freelance Conference goes up by $50 after July 15. - SEATTLE - Mediabistro cocktail party

Who knew that funny cat photos could become such a huge cultural phenomenon? But the power of the I Can Has Cheezburger brand was on full display Thursday night at Safeco Field where the Seattle Internet upstart hosted its first night out at the ballpark. Even Chief Cheezburger Ben Huh -- who greeted fans with his iconic bright yellow Cheezburger hat -- was shocked when more than 1,200 people showed up. Now, word is that the San Francisco Giants are interested in holding a similar night at A

If you’re wondering where I’ve disappeared to, I apologize. I realized that I hadn’t done a post about being away for the next 9 days or so. I’m with family on a little trip. My sister came from Florida, my mom and dad from Hawaii. We’re currently in Vancouver, will be heading to San Juan Islands and then finally to Seattle. I’ll try to keep you updated when possible or even squeeze in a post. I’m currently not doing anything with my phone since AT&T will charge me an arm and a leg if I do s

Making a donation at Value Village (Orin O’Neill photo) This downsizing thing is really taking hold. Each day I’m discovering more stuff I don’t really need, and am kicking myself for dragging it around all these years. Not that I plan to go beating everyone about the head and shoulders with this new-found frugality, or simplicity, or whatever it is, but like they keep saying about business in this tanked economy, once things turn around I should be in great shape. But until that happens,
